Robert Pender

Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and Founder

Robert (Bob) Pender is the Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and founder of the Company.  Bob previously served as a partner at Hogan Lovells, a global law firm, where he was Co-Leader of its global Energy and Natural Resources team and the Chair and Practice Group Director of its Project & International Finance Group for a decade.  Bob is internationally recognized for his high profile transactional work, focusing on international power, energy, and other infrastructure projects, including carbon capture and renewables.Bob Pender He has worked on more than $25 billion in transactions located throughout North America, Central and South America, and South Asia. In his last year at Hogan, Bob closed over three billion dollars in deals. Representing PRC state owned enterprises (Sinosure and China Development Bank), Bob closed the first off-shore project financing for the PRC, a 600 MW power deal now under construction on Luzon Island, the Philippines. Bob also negotiated the largest sovereign loan ever undertaken by the Republic of Ecuador, the proceeds dedicated to a 2,000 MW hydro project to be built in Ecuador. Bob was recently ranked by Chambers as one of the most experienced and highly recognized attorneys in the global projects industry. Clients describe Bob as “offering legal counsel that is ‘second to none’” and praise him for being “consistently up to date with current market conditions” in Legal 500. While working with Venture Global LNG, he has also continued to provide pro bono support to the Government of Haiti, beginning with legal support to the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission, then working with the U. S. State Department, providing legal and transactional support on the Caracol Industrial Park in Cap Haitian (which will employ 20,000 Haitians), and then serving as a counselor to the Republic of Haiti on energy and power issues. Prior to law school, Bob worked as a staff assistant on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics and then on the White House Staff. During law school, he continued on the White House Staff as a law clerk in the Office of Counsel to the President.

Michael Sabel

Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and Founder

Michael Sabel is a Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and founder of the Company. Mike has over 24 years of experience in capital markets’ transactions including initial public and secondary offerings, public and private M&A transactions, and private equity and venture capital.Michael Sabel Additionally, Mike has experience in the energy, energy technology and financial service sectors in new company formation, technology licensing, and corporate business development. Mike also advised on private equity and M&A transactions for software, technology and real estate companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Mike was previously Executive Vice President of First Sierra Financial, a publicly traded commercial finance company. He was responsible for leading business and e-commerce strategy, public equity market transactions, the company’s active acquisition program, and acted as President of the commercial finance companies acquired in the U.K. Prior to First Sierra, Mike was a Managing Director with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. in the investment banking group, and Vice President, investment banking, with Sandler O’Neil & Partners.

Peter Bell

Vice President, Environmental and Regulatory

Peter Bell serves as Vice President of Environmental and Regulatory. In this role, he is primarily responsible for securing the necessary environmental permits and approvals to move the Calcasieu Pass Project forward from the design phase through to construction and operation.

BellPeter-56084-2948-214x300Prior to joining Venture Global LNG, Peter worked for 26 years as an environmental consultant, the last 20 of which have been focused on energy infrastructure development in the United States. Peter began his environmental consulting career at Environmental Science and Engineering, Inc. (ESE) in 1989, later joining ENSR International in Chicago where he was a Senior Project Manager and business development lead for oil and gas infrastructure development projects in the Midwest. In 2003, Peter joined Natural Resource Group, LLC (NRG) in Houston, where he was a Principal and Office Manager prior to joining Venture Global LNG. As an environmental consultant, Peter has managed and provided senior technical permitting support for numerous FERC-regulated and non-FERC regulated infrastructure development projects across the United States from conception to construction, including inter- and intrastate oil and gas pipeline projects, underground gas storage projects, and multiple LNG import and export terminal development projects on the Gulf Coast and elsewhere. His LNG experience has been both on the applicant side and as a third-party consultant to the FERC. Peter’s technical and academic background has focused on water quality, wetlands ecology, and environmental risk assessment. Peter holds Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy (Biological Sciences) degrees from the University of Keele in the United Kingdom and a Certificate in Further Education from Garnett College, London. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Risk Assessment from Sangamon State University in Springfield, Illinois.

Jessica Blake Wickett

Development and Public Affairs

Jessica Blake leads the company’s public affairs and plays an important role in project development.

Jessica has an extensive understanding of energy and financial services policy and is talented at coalition building. In addition, Jessica has worked in business development and strategy for a privately held oil and gas asset firm in Texas. Jessica is fluent in Spanish and comprehends Portuguese, as a result of years spent working in South America in management consulting. Jessica holds a B.A. from Tulane University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

Peter Carolan

Senior Vice President, EPC

Peter Carolan serves as the company’s Senior Vice President, EPC. He has over 30 years’ experience in onshore gas processing, onshore LNG Liquefaction and offshore LNG regasification project development, execution and operations.CarolanPeter-56039-1109-214x300Previously employed by E.ON Global Commodities for 7 years, and assigned to Italy as Managing Director of the JV project company, OLT Offshore, Peter successfully managed the whole development of the world’s first permanently-moored offshore floating storage regasification unit (FSRU Toscana) through EPC project execution, permit approval process, operations & maintenance subcontracts, operating company build-up with ISO 9001 / !4001 certification, regulatory approval, terminal user agreements, project finance and the first 15 months of initial operation. Prior to that, Peter worked for MW Kellogg Ltd (a subsidiary of KBR) in London for 12 years on several FEED and EPC projects in gas processing and LNG Liquefaction for Europe and Middle East in positions of increasing project management responsibility, lastly as Project Director. Peter is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, with a Batchelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Swansea, UK and a Master of Business Administration from Open University, UK.

Don Coers

Senior Vice President, Engineering (Emeritus)

Don Coers serves as the Senior Vice President of Engineering (Emeritus) of the Company. Previously, Don was with Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, an international engineering and construction contractor specializing in LNG and other energy projects.

He served as Manager of low temperature and cryogenic projects at CB&I for over ten years. When he retired, Don was Corporate Manager of LNG & LPG products. He has decades of experience managing engineering and construction of liquefied natural gas projects. For the past fourteen years Don has provided consulting services on over forty LNG projects for LNG production, transportation, and storage and re-gasification terminals. He is on the National Fire Protection Association Technical Committee on Liquefied Natural Gas, NFPA 59A and President of Coers & Company.

Pauline Crane

Assistant General Counsel

Pauline Crane serves as Assistant General Counsel of Venture Global LNG, Inc.  Prior to joining the Company, Pauline was an associate with Sidley Austin LLP, where she represented sponsors, borrowers and lenders in the development and

CranePauline-56282-9046-214x300financing of large-scale projects and portfolios of projects, including gas-fired power plants, wind farms, biomass and solar energy projects.  She also represented investment firms and developers in the acquisition and sale of energy assets.  Earlier in her career, Pauline was legal counsel and corporate secretary of EDF Inc., U.S. holding company of Electricité de France SA, and she assisted with acquisitions, investments and joint ventures totaling over $5 billion in the nuclear energy sector.  Pauline also worked for the legal department of the World Bank, advising governments on commercial law issues and infrastructure projects in Africa and the Middle East.  She was the lead attorney on joint World Bank – IMF missions including in Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Madagascar, Mauritania, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia.  Pauline received a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2001 and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2008.

Stephen H. Del Regno

Senior Vice President, VG LNG Marketing, LLC

Stephen H. Del Regno serves as Senior Vice President LNG Marketing for VG LNG Marketing, LLC and will lead LNG marketing efforts from Tokyo. Stephen brings to Venture Stephen Del RegnoGlobal LNG more than 35 years of experience in the energy industry, the last 14 years of which were in Tokyo where he led LNG marketing for Chevron’s North Asia LNG. During his career, Stephen developed a broad network of industry relationships and a proven track record of successful commercialization of LNG projects. While at Chevron, Stephen led the marketing effort that successfully secured long term sales contracts for approximately 11 MTPA of LNG for the company’s two large Australian LNG projects. In his career, he has worked extensively in Asia, North America and the Middle East in virtually all segments of the gas and LNG value chain, including natural gas marketing and development and acquisition of natural gas pipeline and distribution infrastructure as well as electric power assets in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Before joining Chevron, Stephen was President of the El Paso Japan Company, where he was responsible for development of LNG, natural gas and gas-fired electric power assets. At El Paso, he also led origination of opportunities for electricity marketing, gas marketing and trading businesses in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Prior to the merger of Chevron and Texaco, Stephen served as President of Texaco Natural Gas International (TNGI), where he directed commercial support for development of Texaco’s discovered and prospective worldwide natural gas reserves.  Stephen received a B.A. in Economics and English Literature and an M.S. in Econometrics, both from the University of North Texas.

Paul Dillbeck

General Counsel

Paul Dillbeck serves as the company’s General Counsel. Prior to joining Venture Global LNG, Paul was a counsel at Hogan Lovells, one of the largest international law firms in the world, where his practice included project finance, energy, natural resources, infrastructure, real estate and general corporate matters, with a primary focus on the development, construction, financing, operation and the purchase and sale of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects in the United States and abroad.

DillbeckPaul-56039-1027-214x300Paul’s clients included electric utilities, power suppliers, and power plant, energy and infrastructure developers.  While at Hogan Lovells, Paul advised clients in connection with the development and construction of intra-state natural gas pipelines; the acquisition and sale of multiple fossil fuel energy facilities, including over 2200 MWs of natural gas-fired electric generation facilities; the development and construction of natural gas-fired and coal-fired electric generation facilities, including the expansion of an existing natural gas energy facility in Ghana; the acquisition, development and construction of over 2000 MWs, and the financing of over 2500 MWs, of wind energy generation facilities; the development, financing and sale of utility-scale solar facilities; and numerous large real estate investments in the United States, some in excess of 20,000 acres. Paul received his J.D. with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law.

Herbert Duke

Engineering Manager

Herbert Duke serves the Company as a manager in the engineering department. Prior to joining Venture Global LNG in October of 2015, Mr. Duke developed a diverse background through employment in a variety of fields. During his 15+ year career, Mr. Duke has gained experience in telecommunication design and construction; nuclear gas separation, purification and storage as well as nuclear waste remediation; heavy petroleum processing; hydrocarbon gas treatment and pipeline distribution; and LNG storage and liquefaction as well as vaporization. Herbert DukeHis career has included a mix of Conceptual, FEED, EPC, Construction and Start-up Support and assignments. Most recently Mr. Duke supported the FEED efforts for the planned Mozambique Gas Development project. Mr. Duke holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

 

Brian Eisentrout

Senior Vice President, Engineering

Brian Eisentrout serves as Senior Vice President of Engineering. Brian has more than 40 years’ experience with Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) in project management, design, engineering, construction and commissioning, and most recently served asa lead Process Technology Manager at CB&I.

EisentroutBrian-56039-1163-214x300Brian has a broad background including work on Black Liquor Evaporators, Solar Powered Desalination, Specialty Offshore Structures, LPG and LNG facilities. Brian has worked on several dozen LNG projects in various capacities including: Project Manager; Engineering Manager; Conceptual Designer; pre-FEED and FEED Design Engineer and Manager; Process Designer; permit support staff; and EPC Engineering/Commissioning Manager.  Brian’s LNG skills have been applied to storage tanks, peak-shaving facilities, import terminals and export terminals for projects both domestically and in Europe and Asia. In addition to his roles on LNG projects, Brian has worked as a Field Engineer, Tank Design Engineer, Structural Design Engineer, Piping Engineer, and Process Engineer. Brian serves on NFPA 59A Technical Committee for LNG and CSA Z276 Canadian Technical Committee for LNG.

Ben Frothingham

Director, Environmental and Regulatory

Ben Frothingham serves as Director of Environmental and Regulatory. In this role, he is primarily responsible for supporting the project team to secure the necessary environmental permits and approvals to move the Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines LNG Projects forward from the design phase through to construction and operation.

FrothinghamBen-56345-0845-214x300Prior to joining Venture Global LNG, Ben worked for more than 20 years as an environmental consultant, and for five years at Hess LNG. Ben began his environmental consulting career in 1984 at Weston Geophysical Corporation in Westborough, MA. In 1989 Ben joined Environmental Resources Management (ERM) in Boston where he became an Associate Principal and Branch Office Manager. During his tenure at ERM, Ben worked on a number of LNG projects, including: Atlantic LNG in Trinidad; Distrigas Marine Terminal (now GDF Suez) in Everett, MA; Northeast Gateway Deepwater Port in Boston; Weaver’s Cove Energy in Fall River, MA; Crown Landing LNG in Logan Township, NJ; and Shannon LNG in Ireland. In 2007, Ben joined Hess LNG, where he was the Environment, Health, and Safety Manager and participated in all phases of permitting for three LNG projects. Ben has managed and provided senior technical permitting support for numerous FERC-regulated and non-FERC regulated LNG import terminal development projects in the U.S. and abroad. His LNG experience has been both on the applicant side and as a third-party consultant to the FERC. Ben holds a Bachelor degree in Geology from Guilford College in North Carolina and completed Masters level coursework in groundwater hydrology at Boston University. Ben also holds a number of certifications, including: U.S. Coast Guard Master, Licensed Site Professional in MA, Certified Geologist in ME, Professional Geologist in TN and AR, and Certified Environmental Manager in NV.

Will Fediw

Director of Marine and Regulatory Development

Will Fediw joins us as the Director of Marine and Regulatory Development, spearheading critical waterway viability assessments, overseeing regulatory compliance development, and fostering strong partnerships within the local Louisiana community.

FediwWill-56340-0646-214x300Prior to joining the company, Will served in the United States Coast Guard, most recently as the Foreign Vessel Inspection Branch Director at Marine Safety Unit Lake Charles, Louisiana, ensuring adherence to international and federal safety and security regulations for petrochemical and gas carrier vessels. Previously, Will was the Waterfront Facilities Inspection Branch Director, responsible for the regulatory compliance of petrochemical and liquefied gas facilities in the Greater Lake Charles and Cameron area. Will understands vessel and facility inspections, community outreach, and energy project development. Will is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, earning a Business Degree in Maritime Supply Chain Management.

Vijetha Huffman

Vice President Financial Analysis

Vijetha Huffman leads the financial analysis, modeling, and valuation efforts for the company. Vijetha has 20 years experience in energy and telecommunications combining strategic analysis with finance.

HuffmanVijetha-56216-6792rrr-214x300Prior to joining Venture Global, Vijetha was Vice President of FP&A at The AES Corporation, a global electric power and utility company. During her 9 years there, she drove corporate strategy via 10-year forecasts for AES’ global portfolio, advised the AES Board and senior management on external guidance, and managed corporate valuation work to support decisions such as stock buy-back programs. She also played a key role on several transactions including a $700m Chilean power acquisition, sale of $1.6b equity in AES’ publicly-listed parent company to China Investment Corporation, and the $5b acquisition of Dayton Power & Light. Before joining AES, Vijetha was with MCI Telecommunications (currently Verizon) for 10 years where she served in a number of financial analysis roles evaluating investment opportunities and strategic partnerships. In her time there, she also provided oral and written testimony in several cost proceedings and represented MCI’s views in meetings with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as well as Public Utility Commissions in New York and Massachusetts.

Kris Karafa

Vice President, Develpment

Kris Karafa serves as Venture Global LNG’s Vice President of Development. He brings 15 years of leadership experience from various roles in the military, energy, and infrastructure markets.

In addition, Kris held domestic and overseas positions at Bechtel including strategy, finance, development, dispute resolution and construction management roles. Kris graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from West Point, and has an MBA and MA from The Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania.

Scott Kicker

Senior Vice President, Development

Scott Kicker has over 23 years combined experience in project development, finance, construction and operations in the power sector in the United States, Asia, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa.

He most recently served as Vice President of AES and President of AES Asia, overseeing AES’ operations in the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Singapore and Sri Lanka and led the asset sales of the AES portfolio in China.   In addition to serving as President of AES Asia, Scott held various positions in AES, including as Vice President of Engineering and Construction, Vice President of Business Development for Latin America, Director of Restructuring and various other executive level positions during his 18-year career with the company.  Prior to joining AES, Scott worked as a Project Engineer and Plant Manager with Destec Energy in Texas, California and Taiwan.  Throughout his career, he has worked on projects from inception through financing, construction and operations and as well as project restructuring for non-performing assets.  Throughout his career, Scott has actively overseen the construction of over 8,000 MW of capacity in coal, gas, hydro, solar and wind and over $8 billion in project financings.

Ken Kusano

Vice President, Marine Engineering

Ken Kusano serves as the Vice President of Marine Engineering at Venture Global LNG and will lead the marine engineering and operations efforts.

KusanoKen-56573-9302rHe started his career as a shipboard engineer and then joined the U.S. Coast Guard conducting Marine Investigations and Inspections throughout North America, Europe, Middle East and West Africa. In addition to field assignments, he served as a Project Officer permitting LNG Deepwater Port applications and was instrumental in the development of marine LNG risk assessments and dispersion modeling protocols. Ken then returned to commercial sector as a Vessel Manager with Maersk to develop small scale midstream LNG. Most recently, he was a marine regulatory affairs and compliance advisor at Chevron Shipping collaborating with API, CSA, OCIMF, SIGTTO and WSPA. He earned a MEng in Concurrent Marine Design from the University of Michigan and BS in Mechanical Engineering from the California Maritime Academy.

Jerome Laffont

Engineering Manager

Jerome serves as engineering manager. He brings to Venture Global 20 years of experience executing industrial capital projects worldwide for the chemical, food, and oil and gas industries.

Jerome has extensive experience of detail design and fabrication in the U.S., France, Spain, U.A.E, Korea and Canada. Prior to UOP he was with CAMERON, in the U.K., managing projects in the upstream oil sector, onshore and off shore. Jerome earned a Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Technology of Compiegne, France.

Fory Musser

Senior Vice President, Development

Fory Musser serves as the company’s Senior Vice President of Development. He has more than 15 years of experience in a variety of financial, strategic planning and business development roles.

MusserFory-56039-1279-214x300Before joining Venture Global LNG, Inc. in September 2014, Fory was the Vice President, Corporate Development for Tervita Corporation, a privately held, leading provider of environmental services to the oil and gas industry in North America. Fory served at Tervita for 4 years and his primary responsibilities included strategic planning, executing corporate acquisitions and divestitures and special projects. Before joining Tervita, Fory served as the Vice President, Strategy for Covanta Energy, one of the world’s largest owners and operators of energy-from-waste facilities and other renewable energy infrastructure. Fory’s primary responsibilities at Covanta included strategic planning, executing corporate acquisitions, and developing new lines of business that complemented existing operations. Fory was with Covanta for 3 years. Fory also worked at The AES Corporation, a global independent power company, for 5 years in a variety of roles, principally focused on project financing, business development, and subsidiary debt restructuring. Before AES, Fory was a banker in the private placement group at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown for 3 years.

Tom Newton

Senior Vice President, Engineering

Tom serves as the company’s Senior Vice President of Engineering. Tom has 33 years experience in the development, construction, and operations of power plants in over 30 countries.

NewtonTom-56251-8088-214x300He has demonstrated success in turn-around and asset optimization situations as an executive with the AES Corporation where he was responsible for performance improvement of over 120 plants, worldwide. Tom also set up and managed construction management teams for $7 billion of capital projects in the Middle East. He is an engineer and former plant manager with Southern Company. He earned a MBA from University of Notre Dame (2000) and a BSE in mechanical engineering from University of Alabama at Birmingham (1982). Tom is a registered P.E. in the state of Alabama.

John O’Leary

Senior Vice President, Operations

John O’Leary serves as Senior Vice President of Operations.  John has over 35 years experience in the Oil and Gas industry predominantly with ExxonMobil in Process Engineering and Operations in both the Refining and LNG sectors.  John’s most recently served as COO with Cameron LNG.

John has been in the LNG sector for nearly 20 years beginning with the commissioning, start-up and operation of Rasgas Trains 1-3.  He acted in pre-operations planning roles supporting Qatargas II as well as Gorgon, Cheniere and most recently overseeing the Operations development at Cameron LNG.  John has an extensive operations background operating Refineries, Gas Plants and LNG facilities.  John is also an expert in Operations readiness, having lead Operations Readiness Reviews of more than 12 facilities including LNG Trains, LNG Regas Facilities and a 12,000 Tonne/Day sulfur storage and loading facility.  John hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Morgan O’Neill

Assistant General Counsel

Morgan O’Neill serves as the company’s Assistant General Counsel.  Prior to joining Venture Global LNG, Morgan was an associate at Andrews Kurth, where her practice included the representation of borrowers and lenders in corporate andONeillMorgan-56183-58381-214x300 project financings, the acquisition and disposition of oil and gas and renewable energy assets, and the development of LNG, wind, and solar energy projects.  Morgan received a B.A. with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from the University of Houston.

Jeff Perritt

Vice President, Gas Supply

Jeff brings over thirty years of natural gas supply management and trading experience to Venture Global.

PerrittJeff-56293-9756-214x300Prior to joining Venture Global, Jeff served as Managing Director of Southeast Trading for Sequent Energy Management, a subsidiary of AGL Resources, one of the largest independent gas marketers in the United States. His responsibilities included the procurement and optimization of supply, transport and storage in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. Prior to Sequent, Jeff served for nine years in a similar position with Oneok Energy Services in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he focused on moving supply from Oklahoma on CenterPoint (now Enable) to pipelines in the Perryville Hub in Louisiana. Jeff has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana.

Lance Remington

Senior Vice President, Engineering

Lance Remington comes to Venture Global LNG from GE Oil & Gas where he held a global role as Director of Technical Sales and drove strategies related to LNG plant equipment sales. He has over 10 years of experience in the design, construction, installation, and operation of LNG production facilities. RemingtonLance-57407-9891

Prior to his role at GE, Mr. Remington held a senior leadership position at Salof Companies, a cryogenics specialty business focused on the design, manufacture and commissioning of small to mid-scale modular LNG facilities. The Salof Companies impacted the small and mid-scale LNG market by developing and deploying modular LNG facilities that were complete in scope, a so called “plug and play” facility that maximized workshop content and effectively removed project execution risk. This process design delivered liquefaction efficiencies that rival larger base load facilities.

During Mr. Remington’s tenure at Salof, the organization grew from a privately held company with approximately $30 MM USD in annual revenue to over $300 MM USD. The success of this growth ultimately led to the acquisition of Salof Companies by GE Oil & Gas. While at Salof, Mr. Remington managed the design and manufacture of Shell’s MMLS portfolio of liquefaction equipment, including Elba Island. He has also served as project manager, project engineer and construction and start-up supervisor for a large number of LNG projects around the world.

 

Dustin Richards

Controller

Dustin Richards serves as the Controller of the Company.  Prior to joining Venture Global LNG, Inc., he worked in the assurance practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, serving clients in its energy and not-for-profit sectors.

Alexander Schreyer

Vice President, VG LNG Marketing, LLC

Alexander Schreyer serves as the Vice President of Marketing for VG LNG, Marketing LLC. Prior to Venture Global, Dr. Schreyer worked within E.ON’s commodity trading house, where he gained valuable international experience in LNG, gas and power.

Alex is is experienced in long term power and gas origination with a focus in the Americas. Dr. Schreyer’s career began at IBM as consultant and industry expert responsible for business development and sales activities in Austria for the Energy & Utilities sectors. As a consultant, he managed projects at multiple utilities and energy trading companies for process change, system selection and implementation. Alexander studied business in Innsbruck and Spain and has a Doctorate degree from the University of Economics and Business in Vienna, Austria.

Robert Pender

Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and Founder

Robert (Bob) Pender is the Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and founder of the Company.  Bob previously served as a partner at Hogan Lovells, a global law firm, where he was Co-Leader of its global Energy and Natural Resources team and the Chair and Practice Group Director of its Project & International Finance Group for a decade.  Bob is internationally recognized for his high profile transactional work, focusing on international power, energy, and other infrastructure projects, including carbon capture and renewables.Bob Pender He has worked on more than $25 billion in transactions located throughout North America, Central and South America, and South Asia. In his last year at Hogan, Bob closed over three billion dollars in deals. Representing PRC state owned enterprises (Sinosure and China Development Bank), Bob closed the first off-shore project financing for the PRC, a 600 MW power deal now under construction on Luzon Island, the Philippines. Bob also negotiated the largest sovereign loan ever undertaken by the Republic of Ecuador, the proceeds dedicated to a 2,000 MW hydro project to be built in Ecuador. Bob was recently ranked by Chambers as one of the most experienced and highly recognized attorneys in the global projects industry. Clients describe Bob as “offering legal counsel that is ‘second to none’” and praise him for being “consistently up to date with current market conditions” in Legal 500. While working with Venture Global LNG, he has also continued to provide pro bono support to the Government of Haiti, beginning with legal support to the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission, then working with the U. S. State Department, providing legal and transactional support on the Caracol Industrial Park in Cap Haitian (which will employ 20,000 Haitians), and then serving as a counselor to the Republic of Haiti on energy and power issues. Prior to law school, Bob worked as a staff assistant on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics and then on the White House Staff. During law school, he continued on the White House Staff as a law clerk in the Office of Counsel to the President.

Michael Sabel

Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and Founder

Michael Sabel is a Co-CEO, Co-Chairman and founder of the Company. Mike has over 24 years of experience in capital markets’ transactions including initial public and secondary offerings, public and private M&A transactions, and private equity and venture capital.Michael Sabel Additionally, Mike has experience in the energy, energy technology and financial service sectors in new company formation, technology licensing, and corporate business development. Mike also advised on private equity and M&A transactions for software, technology and real estate companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Mike was previously Executive Vice President of First Sierra Financial, a publicly traded commercial finance company. He was responsible for leading business and e-commerce strategy, public equity market transactions, the company’s active acquisition program, and acted as President of the commercial finance companies acquired in the U.K. Prior to First Sierra, Mike was a Managing Director with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. in the investment banking group, and Vice President, investment banking, with Sandler O’Neil & Partners.

Daniel Poneman

Daniel Poneman served as Deputy Secretary of Energy from May 2009 until October 2014, where his  responsibilities spanned the range of US energy policies and programs, including cybersecurity, project management, national security,

PonemanDaniel-56446-4082-214x300and international cooperation.  His efforts in incident management and emergency response included the Fukushima accident, the 2011 drawdown from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and Hurricane Sandy.   From 2001 to 2009, Mr. Poneman served as a principal of The Scowcroft Group, providing strategic advice to corporations on a wide variety of international projects and transactions.  Earlier he practiced law as a partner at Hogan & Hartson in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Poneman served on the National Security Council as Director of Defense Policy and Arms Control under President George H.W. Bush and as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Nonproliferation and Export Controls under President Bill Clinton.   He is the author of two books and coauthor of a third, Going Critical: The First North Korean Nuclear Crisis, which received the 2005 Douglas Dillon Award for Distinguished Writing on American Diplomacy.

John Ruggirello

John Ruggirello serves on the company’s Board of Directors. John held various management positions with AES Corporation, a global power company, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to joining AES, John was Operations Manager for a division of the Diamond Shamrock Corporation.

Jimmy Staton

Executive Vice President

Jimmy Staton serves as the company’s Executive Vice President and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Jimmy is a highly accomplished business executive with a proven track record of creating and enabling growth strategies and consistent execution.

StatonJimmy-56039-0894-214x300Jimmy has broad based energy experience having been Chief Executive of one of the largest gas distribution systems in the United States, a Midwest electric and gas utility and a major interstate gas pipeline and midstream business. Jimmy previously served as Executive Vice President and Group CEO for NiSource, Inc.  While at NiSource, Jimmy was responsible for developing and executing strategies resulting in a portfolio of $25 billion of long-term investment opportunities.  In addition, Jimmy developed industry leading marketing and regulatory initiatives. Prior to his tenure at NiSource, Jimmy held several senior executive level positions at Dominion Resources, Inc. where he helped create one of the lowest cost operations in the industry. Jimmy has also been active in industry organizations having served on the Board of Directors for the Edison Electric Institute, the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, the American Gas Association, the American Gas Foundation and the Southern Gas Association.

Terry Newendorp

Terry Newendorp was the founder of Taylor-DeJongh and has more than 35 years of experience in international and cross-border capital investments, project and structured financing, corporate financing and private placements of capital.  He has negotiated and closed deals in 75 countries, aggregating more than $250 billion, primarily in the oil & gas, petrochemicals, energy, metals & mining and infrastructure sectors.  In addition to extensi28946b6ve experience organizing and structuring commercial bank loans globally, he has strong experience with multilateral financing institutions and the export credit agencies of most of the developed world. He has extensive experience assisting clients in managing the project development process and in closing transactions.  He has been the financial advisor for 27 trains of LNG production, having worked with or advised most of the major IOC sponsors of LNG projects globally since 1994, as well as advisories on numerous LNG receiving terminals for gas utilities or buyers in 10 countries. Terry has also supervised over 240 IPP financial advisories and over 26,000 km of pipelines for project financing.  He has been the overall leader for project finance teams that have won 14 “Deal of the Year” awards since 1999. Under his leadership, Taylor-DeJongh ranked in the top 20 financial institutions in the world for total value of project finance advisories over the 10 year period 2004-2013 (PFI League Tables).  Among Terry’s awards are: “Independent Energy 25-year All-Star Award” for energy finance, Infrastructure Journal’s “Oil and Gas Advisor of the Year, 2003,” Leader of “Superstar Team, Asia/Middle East Oil and Gas,” Infrastructure Journal’s “Latin America Advisor of the Year, 2001,” and numerous other international accolades for success in energy finance globally. He is on the Board of Directors of investment funds and energy companies, and he has advised the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on energy security issues.
